Explanatory notes on promotional communication and personalization

interest and we want to be
transparent about the purposes of this marketing consent. We would like to explain how
we use personal data in
particular to individualize our marketing activities and make it as relevant and
interesting as possible for you.
Who will receive your data and contact you with promotional
communication?
If you subscribe to our promotional communication, your personal data will be stored and
processed by BMW
NSC (full legal name and address). You further agree that for the purposes mentioned
below BMW NSC shares
selected personal data with certain of its BMW Group companies (full legal names and
addresses; Bayerische
Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft, Petuelring 130, 80788 München) which may process your
data and contact
you via your selected channels for the purposes mentioned below. In addition, you also
agree that selected
personal data will be shared with your contract partners and workshops (i.e., your
stated preferred dealer, the
partners of your car purchases, service or consulting visits, or your regional partner)
which may process your
data and contact you via your selected channels for the purposes mentioned below.
Updates may be shared
between the stated partners.
What kind of promotional communication can you expect? And through which
channels?
If you sign-up for our promotional communication, your personal data will be stored
and processed to provide
you with selected personalized marketing communication and information about BMW Group
(including BMW
Group branded) products and services, to send you customer care communication (e.g.,
service information or
customer or prospect care programs), as well as invite you to market research
activities. Such communication
includes, for example, latest news on BMW Group (including BMW Group branded) products,
selected offers or
invitations to exclusive events. You will only be contacted via the channels you
selected.
How does BMW personalize communication for you? What data is used?
BMW NSC does not want to bother you with irrelevant information. BMW NSC offers an
exclusive information service based on personalized promotional communication to reduce
its communication to you to a perfect fit. If you subscribe to our personalized
promotional communication, you consent to receive personalized communication tailored
according to your interests and preferences and agree that, for this purpose, BMW NSC
will process your personal data to create an individual profile for you. All data
aggregated in your personal profile will influence the way we inform you about relevant
BMW Group (including BMW Group branded) products and services, customer care and market
research purposes.
Where available, the following data provided by you or generated due to your use of
products or services of BMW NSC, certain subsidiaries and your contract partners and
workshops may be incorporated in the profile development: contact details (such as e.g.
name, address, e-mail address, telephone number); identification data (e.g. your
customer number, contract number); your vehicles (e.g. vehicle identification number,
ConnectedDrive contracts, service packages, vehicle mapping in BMW apps, check control
messages); your consent to promotional communication, supplementary
information/preferences (such as e.g. preferred dealer, hobbies, interests, date of
birth); product interests (e.g. model, vehicle type); promotional campaigns (e.g.
e-mail, name, related products); participation in customer / prospect programs (e.g.
sent information, event participation); customer history (such as e.g. receipt of
offers, test drives, vehicle purchase data, dealer information; contacts with BMW
customer service/mobile service, protection letter, purchases online shops); vehicle
usage data (e.g. mileage, cruising range, battery); data from BMW apps or websites (e.g.
usage data from the online accounts of BMW); recommended action based on statistical
models; interaction data (i.e., usage data such as e-mail receipt, opening of e-mails,
information about clicks on link and content in the e-mail); data from cooperation
partners (e.g. data from BMW branded Add-On Mobility app). A detailed list with data of

Certain data categories, such as vehicle usage data, usage data
from apps and websites or data from cooperation partners only be used for the profile
development in case you have provided your separate and voluntary consent to the
corresponding collection and processing.
How is the tracking and analysis of your usage in email campaigns or other interaction data done for the purpose of personalized
promotional communication?
If you do not wish to receive communications personalized to you, you can deselect this
in your
BMW online account or via the contact
options below. In this case, no customer
profile, as described above, will be created for you. For the purpose of promotional
communication, personal data provided by you (e.g. contact details and personal data
such as date of birth and driver's license class, hobbies and interests as well as
vehicle of interest) as well as basic information about your vehicle (e.g. model
currently driven, equipment features) will then be processed.
